Re: Hoover 5 year parts Warranty charge £89.23p for Call Out

Many thanks both DDSDDS and especially ‘whitevanman’ for very valuable information. I have written to their service manager with regards to my fault findings and general feelings so I will see what he does or says before I take it further.
    Thanks again.
    Dave.

iadom (Jim) – Just for your record, I called out the Hoover engineer and gave him the symptoms. Within minutes, he detected the fault to be a loose front drum balance weight. After tightening up these three self tapping screws the machine now runs like new!
The only bad news was that this call-out cost me £89.23p.

Many thanks Jim, I shall take your advice and call the firm out. I was doubtfull at first because they charge £89 plus for the call out and I am only on disability money with no work.
    Thank you once again.
    Dave.

Yes – we have constantly used low 40 degree temps and liquid soap in its 3 year life.
Almost always on Number 4 cycle.
Would this fault be a major repair and high parts costs as it is still in its 5 year parts warranty?
Would I se it without removals?

Purely from a safety aspect, I wouldn’t be modifying any appliance. There will be reasons why you are experiencing this symptom.

With the appliance un-plugged, I would check the motor brushes incase they have worn sufficiently to interfere with the pre-spin or distribution cycle and thus causing the load to become unbalanced or you may have a module, suspension or overloading fault.

If in any doubt of your ability please feel free to use the engineer link below.

😳 Thanks for that Greg, I have checked the motor brushes and they are in a healthy state.
Is the modual a printed circuit?
Does the ‘overloading’ statement mean too many clothes in drum?
