Despite your valiant efforts, lads, it seems the machine has rumbled its last. A local engineer checked it over for an hour, ruling out virtually everything he knew, and concluded it must be the “module”. Based on his estimate of repair cost, we are going to opt for a new machine. The guy didn’t charge as he had not fixed it, so he was no charlatan.

Just two more questions if I may.

i. Is 4 years a reasonable life expectancy for an Indesit W143S?
ii. The bloke recommended Bosch for a good machine at a sub 350 quid price. Do Bosch machines receive good reviews in your experience, or would you recommend another option?

Nice one, Dave, thanks. In your experience, is this generally something straightforward, or can you offer any advice?
Worst case scenario, how much would it cost to have an expert repair/replace it (ball park figure)?
