Thanks for the tips, will try out at the weekend. When I had it open I did notice rust around the main motor so suspect that it probably has seized. Also yes it did seem the drain was somehow connected with the circulation pump.

I inherited it with a new house, so wasn’t really expecting it to be working, but I’ll try and turn the motor by hand and replace the cap if it turns.
