I replaced the connector with the spade connectors from Halfords. The dryer now works.
I can’t thank this forum enough. As a result of your website, the whole job probably took 1 hour from taking the back off, going to Halfords, applying the new connectors and putting the back on. Total cost, bit of petrol and £2 for the new connectors.
Had I gone through AEG, machine out of warranty, they would have charged me £200 for new warranty including parts and labour. Once again thank you so much.

Thank you so much for this forum. I have the same problem as everyone else, took the back off and found the orange wires were disconnected.
I am having no luck getting the old wires out as only the bare copper strands are showing and as I try to pull them out, there seems to be more inside.
If I cut the top off the connector as The Ted describes earlier does this mean that it will still connect to the sensor as there seems to be a bar (on top) with a lip on it to make the connection. If I cut it do I cut above where the metal V holds the wire or below?
I have tried to find a replacement connector and I’ve had blank looks from everyone in electrical, gas and auto places, even those who are dealing with trade not just shops.
The last post mentioned replacing it with an Auto crimp connector, is there an exact name for this that I can ask for?
Hope you can help, you’ve been brill so far.
