Thanks for your advice the two who responded. It’s not the stat regulator as light stays on whilst heating and I’ve checked temp with a thermometer. I do think it must be the lower element as although base gets warm in a few ‘hot spots’ which seems surprising, doesn’t get properly hot to burn your fingers. Can feel plenty of heat from the top though. Now all I need to fathom out is how difficult to fit new base element!
