ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Ultima FDW80 Fault code displayed AL01
I had the same problem on my Hotpoint DWM75 (generating AL01 errors despite the flood switch not being activated) and thanks to the advice here I discovered it was due to the turbidity sensor.
On the DWM75 it is located in the base just above the drain pump.
The turbidity sensor costs about £12 and you can see what it looks like on the hotpoint spare parts website.
My DWM75 ran fine with both the flood switch and the turbidity sensor disconnected (don’t try this at home..) and only generated the AL01 errors when I reconnected just the turbidity sensor.
If you’re careful with the clips on the housing around the turbidity sensor then it is possible to remove the sensor from the plastic housing and position it around the clear s-bend pipe and then clip the housing back round the sensor.
Anyway thanks for the information on the forum chaps as my dishwasher is working again.
After researching the issue on the web I am inclined to agree with the popular opinion that Hotpoint (indesit) dishwashers aren’t too clever. Mine had two pcbs replaced under warranty, but now it is out of warranty I’m damned if I’m paying Hotpoint £90 for a callout and my local repair shop didn’t have a clue.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone try this if they are not confident with electrical appliances, so don’t blame me if you fry yourself or your dishwasher.
