    the circular black disc is a pressostat and yes it measures water level and tells the pcb when to close the inlet valve. Its unlikely at this stage that it caused your heat problems as generally a gunged up pressostat will cause an F4 (four flash) failure, or drainage failure. However you have probably prevented a future fault by spotting it now and cleaning it.

    Hi there, your difficulty in removing the filter isnt uncommon, i attend plenty of service calls for this issue. The problem of a leaking housing has been encountered too, although rarely. You are spot on though about the correct removal, remove the two screws from the front and then gently edge the housing out through the rear of the machine, be very careful near the gas pipes though. Just take your time and it is quite an easy fix. One other thing you might like to inspect is where the water pipe comes up to the freezer door from under the appliance, there is a push fit connection sitting over the overflow tray, leaks are common here when the doors have been removed and refitted during delivery.
