Re: Diplomat HJA 8630 – jammed pump I think

Just wanted to thank everyone for their posts in this thread! My HJA 8630 (Howden’s Lamona brand – 2 years old) stopped draining the day after we broke a glass inside the dishwasher. By following the advice here I have been able to fix it.

I didn’t need to pull the dishwasher out from its housing. I just removed the metal panel from the bottom front of the dishwasher. (In order to do to this I had to also remove the kickboard and the kitchen unit panel on the front of the door).

Once the front panel was off I could see the drain pump at the front left hand side (identifiable by the drain hose being connected just behind it). There was no retaining screw. I just had to give the pump a firm twist and it came off. Didn’t have to disassemble the pump – I found a piece of glass in the chamber the pump plugs into. This must have been stopping the impeller from turning. Took the glass out, checked everything else was clean then put it all back together and it drains fine.

Saved myself a callout charge. Many thanks for the advice!

    Simon
