    Re: Aeg Competence D5701-4

    You are in Luck!

But only if you can go back to the company who sold it to you in the first place and still have the receipt.

Under EU law they HAVE to repair or replace the item for a period of six years from the date of purchase. Tell them this. If they refuse tell them that they are breaking European law and that you intend to take the matter further (and tell the media about it).

    Good luck!

I always understood that the manufacturer had a legal responsibility in the UK to have spare parts available for a minimum of 5 years from the date the product was discontinued.

Maybe check with the local citizens advice and see what they suggest.

This is not a good advert for AEG!

    Re: Siemens or Bosch

Well, after a lot of searching around and deciding what would be the best deal I have gone with the following….

    Siemens SE26M290GB

Total cost delivered is £455.04 with 5 years call-out, labour and parts. (from Laskys).

It’s the same inside as a Bosch SMS69 in Currys that’s priced at £599.99 (without delivery and only comes with 2 years warranty)……

So I feel happy with this now (especially when you see companies charging £250 for a 5 year warranty)…..Only time will tell if I made a wise decision.

I’ll be back in a few months looking for a new washing machine so will post an update then.

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Hi Don,

Thanks for that…..but yesterday you said it was Bosch all the way, now it’s Siemens…..Why the sudden change of heart?

Re: Bosch SMS50E02GB – Any good?

    Thanks for the fast reply!

Is there any reason to pay £100 more for the SMS 53? To me it looks like the specs are just about identical in all areas.

Does anyone know of any typical problems with either the 50 or 53 models?

Can the drain hose be extended if needed?

How easy are they to access for repair and deep cleaning?

Thanks….lots of questions but it’s a big purchase for me!
