They don’t need to know how to design machines that will last 10,15 or even 20 years, most of them have already done it. If people only buy the cheapest or should I say if price is the first consideration then that is what manufacturers will provide and as profit margins get squeezed even the ertswhile quality brands like Bosch, Zanussi and even Miele start to cut corners or import cheaper rebranded appliances from China, Turkey etc.
Thanks for the info. Do you know the answers to the bosch questions that i asked too? Also are there any other brands that will last a long time at a similar price to bosch/zanussi?

It makes me think that bosch is going to provide 5yr warranties by default on 1st april 2021 on those higher end models but hope that people buy now instead of waiting for the new EU rules to pressure manufacturers in to making longer lifespan machines at which point many manufacturers will likely offer longer warranties knowing that few will need to be repaired during their warranty period.
