Ebac are now charging a whopping £689 for their 8kg model!!! Miele are currently charging £699 for their 7kg machine after £100 offer. Crazy that ebac are charging about the same price.

    Also which magazine have now done a review of their maxi model which uses normal cleaning by default instead of eco by default. They gave it a score of 48{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}: https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/wash…sh-awm86d2w-wh the non-maxi machine scored 35{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

I don’t recommend buying an ebac washing machine as the cleaning is bad and it is very expensive.

    Overall cleaning

    ★☆☆☆☆
    How we test overall cleaning

The combined cleaning star rating is based on the wash results from our tests for both the 40°C cottons and 40°C synthetics wash programmes.Water use

    ★★★★★
    How we test water use

We measure the amount of water used by the machines on both their cottons and synthetics programmes when washing at 40°C.Cotton wash

    ★★★☆☆
    How we test cotton wash

We check how good each washing machine is at removing stains when washing cottons at 40°C and when loaded to 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the machine’s capacity.Synthetic wash

    ★★☆☆☆
    How we test synthetic wash

This star rating shows how well each washing machine removes stains when washing synthetic fibres at 40°C. For this synthetics test, we load each machines to its listed capacity for synthetics.Rinsing efficiency

    ★★★☆☆
    How we test rinsing efficiency

We check how well each machine rinses detergent away from clothes by stopping the machines just after the rinse phase and then analysing the remaining water for signs of detergent. We use a spinning machine to extract the water to analyse.Spin dry

    ★★★☆☆
    How we test spin dry

We weigh the clothes we wash before and after the wash to be able to judge how well each machine spins water away.Ease of use

    ★★★☆☆
How we test ease of use

We run more than 50 ease of use assessments as part of our tests. We look at how clear the instructions are, how easy the machine is to load and to unload, we check the clarity of markings on the control panel and how easy the controls are to use. We also take a look at how easy it is to use the detergent drawer.Program length

    ★★★★★
    How we test program length

During our tests we record how long both of the wash programmes we test take to run. The star rating is based on the length of the programmes and is relative to the capacity of the washing machine.Quietness

    ★★★☆☆
    How we test quietness

We use an expert panel to listen to each machine as it fills, washes, spins and drains. Our panel listens for the normal operating noises as well as any annoying sounds the machine makes. A five star machine will be just about as quiet as a washing machine can be. A one star machine will make a lot of noise as it fills, washes and spins.Energy efficiency

    ★★★★★
    How we test energy efficiency

We record the amount of energy used by the machines on both their cottons and synthetics programmes when washing at 40°C.

i thought that all bosch models had the same quality, just different functionality? the entry level model costs £419

bosch has some new entry level machines such as this 7kg 1400rpm: WAJ28001GB

This has a B energy rating, the previous entry level model had a D rating.

    That certainly sounds very bad.

Ebac have stopped selling their 7kg model now. Interestingly they have a new Maxi 8kg which does more aggressive cleaning: https://www.ebac.com/washing-machine…-8kg-cold-fill

Not sure whether they have used the same machine but changed the default washing to aggressive mode instead of eco or whether there are other changes. Only a 3yr parts&labour warranty on this though. I hope that ‘Which? Magazine’ do a review of this Maxi model so we can find out how well it actually cleans as they gave the regular model low scores as they tested it in the default eco mode which doesn’t clean very well.

it seems as though the IDV75 has been discontinued according to this page: https://www.indesit.co.uk/indesit-ec…hite-f074628/p

They still have the 8kg vented model though (I1 D80W).

I would get this 10kg ebac if i were you: https://www.ebac.com/washing-machines/e-care-10kg-cold-fill

If you sign up to their mailing list you can get 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off which makes it £645. It will likely last longer than any non-miele consumer machine. Miele don’t make consumer machines bigger than 9kg.

Sadly both freestanding washers with this option are both out of stock with a lead time of 11-16 weeks. The five year guarantee will not cover commercial use. The poster needs approx 20-25 washes per week, the average domestic use being about three loads per week. When I have questioned the warranty with them in the past they have said no warranty on commercial use.

The Ebac guarantee is also only for domestic use.

Over the years more and more businesses are using domestic appliances due to the price of commercial products, manufactrurers have now got wise to this and have acted accordingly.

How can it be commercial use if they are using it in a residential home? Actually the poster didn’t say if it was in a residential home, maybe it is indeed at a business address. I can understand if they refuse to repair if the repairman arrives and finds out the address is actually a restaurant or something. Would it not be an option to transfer the machine via a vehicle to a residential address if it becomes faulty so they can pretend it is just a residential machine used by a large family?

P.S what size machine are you using? Many brands make 11.5kg/12kg models nowadays, this would reduce the number of cycles you do and therefore prolong the lifespan.

Some of the new bosch models have a 5yr warranty. Ebac machines have a 7yr warranty.

Do you know which grade of aluminium is the best for spiders? Which brands use the better grades of aluminium?

Hi guys i wanted to know whether ebac use stainless steel spiders or aluminium or something else so i contacted them on facebook chat, here is their response:

ME: is your washing machine drum spider made out of stainless steel or aluminium or something else?
EBAC: The drum is a a spider drum , and is a plasma welded steel drum. The drum is a split drum so is repairable because of how it is manufactured in this way.

I’m confused by their answer as i’m not knowledgable about appliances and engineering. Does this mean that the spider is made out of stainless steel and permanently welded and therefore won’t corrode easily and cannot be removed? Or did the employee mis-understand my question?

I also asked them if they have plans to make tumble dryers, here is there response:

ME: Are you planning on releasing tumble dryers as i know you were thinking about it a few years ago?
EBAC: We have no plans at present to manufacture Tumble dryers . I do believe it was decided to keep the primary focus on building outstanding freestanding washing machines.

wmda99 wrote:According to Which, their machines are Don’t Buys- don’t seem to wash well at all…

That is because they designed theirs to use little water and electricity on the default modes. If you use the aggressive mode it washes like a normal machine. Which Magazine refused to test it under such settings so we don’t really know how well it washes with the aggressive mode.

It seems as though this new serie 2 integrated slimline dishwasher has a stainless steel tub and a brushless motor: https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/product-list/dishwashers/built-in-dishwashers/built-in-dishwashers-45cm-width/SPV2HKX39G#/Tabs=section-technicalspecs/Togglebox=-1051994369/Togglebox=1118313654/Togglebox=156003665/Togglebox=1008000986/

Pricy though, £411 is the cheapest i have seen it at.
