You are totally correct, I removed the PCB and immediately could see signs of heat damage around a couple of the resistors. Thanks for your help, looks like the drum will become a planter for herbs now.

Where is the PCB please? I’ll take a look at it.

As far as I know this is the original motor and brushes, we bought it used. Replacement brushes are only £4 on EBay so it might be worth while trying them if I can find the PCB

I’ve removed the motor and brushes as per image.

The brushes are smaller than a £1 coin and not at all shiny, the same applies to the commutator. I would have thought that the continuous contact during the motor motion would have left it with a polished appearance.

No, I didn’t remove the motor. I just visually inspected it in situ. Should I remove and check it fully?

Also, my son seems to remember there was an F15 fault code.

Checked all round the motor and circuits but could not find any signs of shorting.

Got the heater element removed and inspected it but it looks just fine.

I tested it with a multi meter and there is a resistance of around just 26 Ohms. I’d expected an open circuit but this was not the case.

Not sure where to go from here. .

Yes, the door still locks and the lights come on in the instrument panel.

I’m told it won’t drain, fill or spin.

Thanks for your help here Dave. I have now found the problem which was simply a loose connection in the meter box on the neutral side.

I tested the switch using a table lamp and it did not light so I knew it was on the neutral side. We had an electrician install this cable some years ago on its own circuit and I guess the copper strand simply compressed.

I can’t find a fuse anywhere. I have the top grey control panel removed & can see the looms going to the various switches. There is a connector on the black cable going to the on / off switch but it is just a connector inside & not a fuse. Do I need to strip it back further & where please?

I still have a live reading using a mains voltmeter in both the live & neutral within the isolator switch. They both give a reading of 270v

I have just replaced the switch with a spare immersion switch I had lying about but this has not had any effect.

When you say ‘switch is faulty neutral failed ‘ do you mean the wall switch? Or is it a switch within the tumble dryer?
