    BFI …..Oh yes.

Got Big John at work (fitter, electrician, plumber) to have a go……2 minutes with a big hammer and a chisel…. bearing out.

Cleaned up all the bits, fitted bearings. Unit back together…..job done.

Most difficult bit…..getting the bearings out and putting the rubber skirt/seal thing back on the front of the drum. Which is easy once you find the ‘knack’.

    Cost £19.25 for the bearings.

Time taken about 8 hours in total.

For the record.. I removed the top, front and back, removed the belt, pulley, motor and both weight things off the drum and lifted it out the back after pulling all wiring off connectors and pulling all hoses off. The feet unclip off the base and unclip from the springs. Split drum by popping clips off etc etc.

Can anyone tell me how much this may have cost had I gone an expert in ?

Right….got the smaller bearing out. Can’t get the larger one out. It does come out the opposite way to the smaller one. i.e must be removed by applying force from the smaller bearing side.

Tried a big hammer, metal stake, ice, WD40…any other ideas ??

Got the drum out and split.

What’s the best method of seperating the outer shell and the drum and then the replacing the bearings ?
