Re: Door hinge problem on Hotpoint

I have spent several hours with a small screw driver pushing it right down between the rubber and the panel, but was unable to connect with a retaining wire. I have tried to peel the rubber back with my fingers, but it is too tight to move. A lot of my working life was spent in engineering, but I have never seen anything like this before!
I guess I will have to wait until I have the money to pay for a Hotpoint engineer.
I much appreciate your replies, thank you.

Just one more question. Could not quite manage through the top of the washer, so am going to undo the wire retaining band so as to reach the hinge through the door. Despite pushing a flat headed screw driver between the rubber and the panel (saw how to do this on YouTube!), there was no sign of the retaining band.
My question is – does this model definitely have a retaining band, or is it fastened some other way?
Thank you once again for your time.

Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it. If I get the rubber door seal out the way I should be able to get my hand into reach the hinge.
Is it difficult to get the door seal unlipped, would I need any specialist tools for the job?
    Thanks
