tubafan Thankfully it is working fine now, I started looking to buy a new fridge freezer and all the reasonably priced ones are out of stock.
When I said a timer, I meant more like the old fashioned simmerstat type of operation
Am wondering if this is what it is, what do you think?

A variable resistor (potentiometer) is used to modify the time the capacitor takes to reach VIH and adjusting its resistance varies that time. A basic voltage divider with one resistor and one thermistor is used to implement the temperature sensor. The thermistor resistance depends on the temperature. Ther is no fan or vents in the fridge, the only fan is in the freezer at the back of the top compartment. The fridge part seems to get cool from the back panel getting cold, it is smooth plastic and ice was forming on it. there is a water drain at the bottom of the panel. If it is a variable resistor does that mean that it isn’t sensing temperature at all, more just coming on for timed intervals?

Since I took it to pieces and put it back has started working fine, am wondering if it worth just changing this variable resistor ?
