The fridge has been off for the last two days. Thought I would turn it on and see if anything happened. The fan at the front and the compressor came on! Now its cooled down a bit they’ve both gone off again. Going to leave the door open to see if they come on again. Do you think this sounds like a thermostat problem now?

Is there an easy way to check the stat or the compressor (like check the volts across them)? Haven’t pulled the fridge out yet so don’t know how accessible these bits are.

If not any idea how much a repair might cost?
