I’ve been away (hence the delay in replying previously) and I thought I’d double check the machine and very strangely it’s now working. I ran a 30 minute wash cycle, then a 40° wool cycle and no issues (next I might try with clothes in). I’ll keep an eye on things and hopefully it will continue to work. In answer to your last question, no child lock on the machine and there was no flashing light sequence when it was playing up, just the start/pause light flashing green.

Hi Dave it just seemed to flash on/off as though the machine was on pause, but doesn’t let me unpause it.

I have more or less the same problem with my John Lewis washer dryer and I was wondering if the door was the issue, as suggested in the above post.
The model number is JLBiWD1400 Type P6498489 Prod No. 91460121400.
I was able to open the door with the drum still half full of water, which I thought was a bit strange as there is meant to be a door lock to stop this happening. I finally managed to get the machine to drain, after a few tries. I then tried on another program and the same thing happened, the machine started and after a couple of minutes, the start/pause light started flashing and the program display goes back to the start time. Nothing happens when you try and press the start/pause button and the only way to get the machine to do anything is to turn it off and on again.
The dryer appears to be working though. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam
