    Re: Bosch Fridge/Freezer KKU32001

Five years have now passed since my last posting and the fridge freezer continues to amble along with the ever frequent 24 hour shut down (app two/three monthly intervals)to allow a complete defrost. However on the last two occasions very little de-iced water was evident.
Whilst we are covered under Homecare, I am reluctant to ask for a call out for them to tell me that our Fridge Freezer is very old and some new parts are required, but in then in the same breath say that they are no longer available, for this would mean having to purchase a new Fridge Freezer with a discount allowed from Homecare.
I have tried to obtain a service manual for this model of Bosch KKU32001 without any luck, though naturally there are plenty of customer instructions available.
A Service Manual would give me some ideas of spares availability and cost.
As a matter of interest we have been quoted £98 and£58 for a plastic soap powder dispenser drawer for an AEG washing machine. (August 1997)
I mention this because Homecare may find that any repair and spare parts to our Fridge Freezer are more expensive to themselves and decide to condemn it and give us a discount voucher to purchase a new Fridge Freezer.

Actually it was my wife who suggested the extraction fan, and all credit to her, the idea seems to be working very well. The extractor is linked to a simple timer of 10 programs over a 24 hour period with each setting giving 5minutes ON.

    Re: Bosch Fridge/Freezer KKU32001

Since switching on and moving the Bosch Fridge/Freezer to an open position in the kitchen it has maintained a normal reading of -18 and +04. I now suspect that because the appliance is normally sited with the minimum of air space that some build up of ice or that the electronics may have temporally been affected due to possible restriction of free air circulation.
Right or wrong, I have installed a small 4inch extractor fan on the outside wall at the rear of the Fridge/Freezer, and this is linked to a time clock. The Off/On times have yet to be experimented with.

I do not mind if anyone wants to shoot me down in flames for implementing such a daft idea!! on the other hand, if the idea has merits, then I would appreciate a feed back.

    Del.
Thank you for your input. At present I have brought out of moth balls our old fridge and freezer appliances, both of which must now be over twenty years old. Though bought from new, they have not been in continual working use for twenty years.
    Hotpoint Freezer Model 8720
    Hotpoint Coolstore Model 8120
Both appliances immediately kick started in to life and when they reached their operating temperatures, I transferred all food from the Bosch.
Having now had the Bosch switched off for about 30hrs? I have, at 7-30am switched on the appliance and the Digital Display activated itself showing a reading of 21 Centigrade for freezer and 23 Centigrade for fridge. I will now monitor its temperature progress over the next 24hrs.
