Re: Help needed from an ex-pat appliance!!!!

The company I’m using in the Auckland area is Saxon and i’ve just emailed them the links to this site and thread as an attempt to get this resolved.

Saxon have been very helpful but are struggling to date to sort the matter out…. hopefully some help here will see our unit working again.

When the temp is 28c outside and you’ve no fridge or freezer is does not make her who knows best very happy. :rolls:

    Same For The part numbers
The local S26 model you refer to Has Different part Numbers for The PCBs

Would you happen to know the part numbers for the S26 unit thats sold in OZ i think?

The guys here tried to search on the numbers provided above for our unit but said they found a part but it had a different last digit, otherwise it was the same.

The S26 visually looks very similar if not the same as the S25 and i wondered if the parts were the same and therefore i could source the needed part in this part of the world.

Re: Help needed from an ex-pat appliance!!!!

So if its a board that could be the problem do the numbers suggest this unit would require both or just the rear one…….

Just to clarify my numbers are-

    The model is a S25DRSS33-A/G

The numbers on the service plate inside the fridge are-
    8586 168 15010
    11 0436 034372

Looking at the site shop i can see boards to fit other S25D models but our model ending 33 is not in the fitment list?

Re: Help needed from an ex-pat appliance!!!!

Can the moderators who moved my post here possibly move this post back to the main fridge/freezer problem section please……..

The unit is not a OZ/NZ model so the chances of someone here in the OZ section being able to come up with an answer is minimal compared to the main section but if someone here does know then great.

The unit with the problem is a UK model bought in the UK so surely my answer is more likely to be resolved with the UK biased section of the forum……cheers

Re: Help needed from an ex-pat appliance!!!!

It would appear that the S25 was never sold here but an S26 is sold in Australia and that model looks visually identical to the S25 looking at some pictures. There are side by side Whirlpool fridge freezers sold here and i assumed some of the parts would be the same. You are right in that the search that the appliance people are doing does not bring up the S25 parts.

While i understand its going to be a problem getting parts i don’t think impossible to get the unit sorted even if i need to import the bits from the UK its just identifying the problem.

To add to the above the unit has gone through exactly the same scenario over the last 24hrs…….

Warmed up both freezer and fridge yesterday as mentioned above to 12C on fridge side before then starting to cool and carrying that on all night to the point where when we woke up this morning both were at the correct temps…. -19C and 1.8C.

The unit worked all morning until once again setting off the alarm and is now warming again.

I noticed mid morning that the unit was making a clicking noise at the rear something like the sound of a relay. The sound was a regular clicking and lasted for a few minutes. It was about 1 hour later that the temp alarm for the freezer went off and then the unit started to warm slowly. The relay like noise was coming from the lower freezer side of the rear of the unit.

The problem has slightly changed since we moved the unit a few days ago to one that seems like its confused as what to do.

What i mean by this is it now cools properly then maybe gets a sense its needs to auto defrost or something so warms gradually before then deciding it wants to cool again…..if you get what i mean?

Is there a relay that could fail?

Is there a frost sensor that could be faulty instigating a warm of the whole unit to attempt a false defrost?

Seems weird that the unit is obviously able to function normally for periods before deciding to warm up.

    48 views and not a reply…………eekkkk

Please advise someone, if you can, as the appliance people here who do whirlpool work as part of Fisher and Paykel (they are the NZ whirlpool agents) can’t even locate the part number of the bits we may need replacing.

Can someone at least suggest something……

Do we need a new board(s) and if so do my numbers as above mean both boards or a rear one?

    Bit more info……

Yesterday i turned the unit off and left it off for 12 hours. We moved it around a bit to put it back into its place and low and behold it then started to work. Went down to the full -19c on freezer side and hit 1.8c on the fridge side. It continued to stay at these temps for the next 12 hours before then setting off the audible alarm AGAIN and then gradually increased in temp on both sides to the point where the fridge is at 12C 😡 🙁

So i know it can function normally but it then fails……
