ParticipantI have received phone calls from “domestic appliances” telling me that my washing machine insurance is about to run out and wanted to reinsure it at a special rate. He asked if i had any problems with it recently. I told him he should know, if I have a policy with him. He then disconnected to call. This is not the first time they have called. Customers may get confused with general domestic appliances and domestic appliances.I wouldnt touch him with a pipe wrench.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
The new recall team will be based in Peterborough and the engineers will only be trained on tumble dryers and each call I think will be 60 min. All full size dryers will be affected. Hotpoint did do different modifications to the back panel and the drum over a number of years but obviously to no great effect. They should have stuck with the early Creda dryers with the removable fluff filter inside at the back of the drum. Creda manufactured for a lot of companies in the 70/80s and I cannot recall problems like this.

ParticipantRe: whirlpool taking over indesit
The Court of Ancona has to approve the sale of fineldo’s shares but Whirlpool expect it to be finalised by the end of 2014. Subject to judicial and antitrust approvals. They want to get into Indesits distribution and manufacturing sites in Italy, Poland, Russia and the UK. We will have to see what they do with the site at Peterborough. This is Indesits UK HQ, call centre, Q&R, technical and spares depts. Their tumble dryers are manufactured at Yate.
