Yes you are absolutley correct – the first principal whilst carrying out any repair is to isolate the equipment and if possible totally disconnect from the power supply!
For some of us it is an automatic procedure but of course there are others!

Just thought that I would post that the problem is solved – easy when you know how!
The control panel had been installed incorrectly in the factory and was easy to remove once the cover had been removed and then carefully levered out. The sheet metel (bent in the factory) could then be dressed back to its correct position and all is well.
So far as the pilot lamp (LED) is concerned there were three spade terminations to be made and with the use of a couple of double spade adapters the job was completed!
So if any one else has the problem I can now give a step by step procedure – should it be required!
