    Re: ELECTROLUX Z8240 ERROR CODES

Steve, thanks for the comments and the lesson in motors, much appreiated.

P45 any suggestions, or pointers as what to look for, or should I try powering the motor directly without electronics first, from what I can tell it is a 240V AC motor, controlled by the electronics to make it spin less ( for lower suction ) and faster for ( higher suction )..

    Thanks ,
    Tom

    hi penguin,

thanks for the reply. you seem familiar with this machine.

well the story with this machine is that this is the second time it has died, the first time it was under warranty.

as it is no longer under warranty, I took it apart, and the electronics look ok. there are three boards, one combined power supply, logic board, one vacuum sensor board, and another board from which the motor powers up, and which has a black rubber hose which connects to one of the sensors on this board.

There are other rubber hoses which all seem OK, and there doesn’t seem to be any blockages ina any of them.

The boards don’t appear to be faulty as there is no burnt smell coming from them..

What I have noticed is that the Motor housing showed signs of smoke marks on the wall, as if the brushes had been giving the motor a hard time, and the rotor ( the bit of the motor which the brushes rub on – I think that’s what is called ) appears to be a bit darker. Normally I would expect this should look more coppery in appearance.

Do you know ( or anyone else in the forum ) how to diagnose as to whether or not it is the motor or the boards?

Any help would be appreciated… Thanks…

    Thanks,
    Tom
