Got an engineer in!
Replacement control module dead. Once the control module was removed from the machine and the top cover removed (3 tabs), the fault could be seen. Package on one of the surface mounted triacs was melted. Triac controls the motor in the water heater changeover module.
Lesson learnt is that there is no shutdown protection on the control module – so a dead controller can be due to a bigger fault. Makes an expensive fuse box!

the fault not exactly the same, as this time it looks like it failed mid-cycle. Before it just didnt work when swiched on.
If nobody has any ideas of an obvious problem I have missed, then it looks like time for an engineer.
Thanks

Ok spoke too soon!
Ran the machine on the spray cycle to test and all was ok.
Followed up by running a normal wash cycle. All started ok – celebrate!
Cycle didnt finish. Machine stopped mid cycle – hot inside with steam when door opened. Hot water in bottom of machine above drain mesh.
Cleared water out and that all filters clean
took pump impeller cover off and checked all clean. Rotated impleer in both directions ok and felt motor “pressure” as rotated.
Checked black rubber flap valve on pump outlet ok.
Took side of machine and looked in plastic U loop – which was empty. Disconnected pump side pipe and can blow through this ok. It had a little water in it.
Disconnected outlet pipe at U loop and at drain outlet. Little standing water. Reassembled again, and can blow at drain outlet and feel it in machine at filter with little back pressure.
Machine exhibiting “dead” symptoms, Checked power present to output of RFI filter, and this is ok.
Difficult to fault find when nothing works !
Any ideas what I am missing?
Thanks

Thanks everyone.
Just to close the thread, the fault was the controller.
Appreciate all the help.

Thanks for that.
Ordered part from Bosch as suggested. Interesting online experience!
Their site doesnt work at the weekends, but they dont say that! The original part 488432 was shown, and an order could be created. Only hint that all was not working well was that all credit cards were rejected when placing the order, showing a message “invalid card”.
All works on Monday morning, and the alternative part 492685 as you indicated was shown. Basket total inc VAT and delivery was shown as £87.07, but the email confirmation of the transaction shows a total of £96.07. inc VAT and delivery.
So beware!

Do these models share the contoller with other Bosch models?
I have been offered a controller from an SGS43C12G but am unsure if it is suitable.
Thanks

Thanks – that eliminates that option.
Unless anyone can think of anything else, it looks like the only part left is the controller module. More used to these failing erratically than a sudden change from go to no go.
Much appreciate all the good advice in this forum.

Thats a speedy reply!
Found the 4 torq screws holding the panel. No problem removing the plastic panel and removing the switch.
Ran a continuity test on the switch pins, and didnt quite get what I expected. Continuity between the adjacent pairs on 4 pins, but the pair of pins nearest the front of the machine showed no continuity in ON or OFF position. This would mean that the mains live and neutral are being switched ok, but the white wire (which appears to loop to the switched neutral pin) does not connect in either ON or OFF.
I dont know if the correct operation is that all 6 pins connect to their adjacent partner in the ON position – if so I have a faulty mains switch (only 4 pins doing this). Seems logical, as if not why use 6 pins, when apparently only 4 are needed.

The supressor module is fine.
Following the wiring, the filter is actually on the unswitched side of the mains supply. The wiring goes from the suppressor up to the mains switch at the top of the front door. I think it is worth checking that the power switch is ok before going for the control board.
How do you access the switch – does it drop down from the top panel, or do you have to remove the panel it mounts in at the top of the door to get access to it? (if so is this just a torq screw removal job?)Thanks

Thanks for that. I will try the suppressor before worryng about the board.
