I went through a similar process with my WFF1201 GB recently.

– Changed carbon brushes
– Checked heating element for resistance (was 27 Ohms)
– Eventually, after taking the PCB out of the machine I noticed there was solder missing from one of the wires. The heat must have disintegrated it over time. I added a new lump of solder and now have a working machine again.
