ParticipantRe: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!
Hi all
Seeking some urgent help, whirlpool S20BRSS31
The compressor, condensor fan, evap fan is running but the fridge is not cooling/freezing.
I noticed the freezer panel was built full of ice which has now been defrosted, the fridge is now back on and has been running for 4 hours or so but there is only a light build up of ice
Would this indicate a problem with the board?

The temperature display will not show any numbers and you can’t change the settings until the freezer gets down to -18c.
Give it a couple of hours to settle down.Steve.
The fridge side shows the temp though on the display but not the freezer side, ive read on this forum that it could it be the dreaded fault with the rear pcb capacitors???Fridge has been running for over 2 hours still showing — on the display 🙁

Basically so that you know it’s safe and will work.
If you don’t have or know how to use test equipment then I would advise that you get professional help.
Steve
Morning Steve, I followed your advice regarding warming up the element, connected it back up, the fridge is now running! 😀
However it is not getting cold enough 😥 , the compresssor, rear fan and fridge freezer fan is running as well as ice forming on the condensor. When powered up the front panel bleeps it goes off when i press the bell button but i get a — dash dash sign on the freezer display panel and cannot adjust the temp!
What could it be now?

You will need at least a 500v insulation tester to check it before you put it back.
Should read at least 2 megohms.Or just put a new one in
Steve.
Ps wear gloves when dismantling
I just have a basic multimeter 🙁 what would be the purpose of checking before i put it back in?Is it safe to say that the fan and thermal cut off is okay?
