Seamy, many thanks for the speedy reply and fair comment about leaving it to the Pro. But…having just tipped the machine on an angle I’ve now got sight of the motor and think I’ve also found the problem; One of the two securing screws on one of the brush housings had obviously vibrated loose and fallen out. That brush had then lost contact with the armature which would explain why the fault was intermittent before it finally packed up. Happily I’ve found the missing screw in the bottom of the machine and I’m just in the process of reassembling. Anything else I ought to check/do before reconnecting? TC
