Replaced caps on back board to get freezer working again. Worked a treat.
Replaced 0.33, 0.68 and 3 x 0.47 on front board to try to get ice maker working but no joy.
Now thinking Infra Red sensor is possibly not working. Any ideas anybody ?Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!
Thanks guys. Seems like I fixed the annoying flashing and beeping (for now – unless a defrost did the trick) by four new caps on the back board but ice maker still not working. Does this need new cap somewhere also or is this controlled by front board ? Anybody know ?

Had the flashing “–“, warning light and noise.
Replaced the four 0.22uF Caps on the main board. Seems to be working at the moment (although didn’t when I first switched it back on again, had the same problem. Maybe it was just reaching temperature).
Just in case…..how do I get access to the front board ? Can’t seem to find a way in !
And from the numbers above, will I need to replace both boards ?
