ParticipantRe: Creda TCR2 Condensing Drier Heater Probelms.
Hi,
Had a look at the Hotpoint link and as far as I can see the actual pump looks very similar. I don’t recognize the black looking gadget in the second photo, which I assume is the revised pump assembly?
I’m assuming there have been problems with the pump and it’s assembly, causing noise and maybe water getting in to the fan/heater inlet. Anything with a technical message indicates a modification to solve problems on the early builds.
Thanks for all the help guys.
Terry.

Hi,
Thanks for the heads up with a supplier of a pump that will be less noisy.
Can’t help but agree with the pants build quality of the Creda – let’s hope he comes down soon, as the bath water will get cold and you’ll run out of songs.
I’m in the middle of repairing a 56-year-old Bush DAC90A radio that has just a few parts failed. The Creda is not even in the same ballpark as the old Bush radio.

Hi,
Going by the description you gave, and racket this pig of pump makes, I kind ‘a feel it’s an old unit.
The machine is just over two years old, but it does get a good deal of use though.
Maybe it could be an idea to upgrade the pump anyway.
Can’t say I’m too impressed with the general build quality of this machine though.

I’d have it down as rouge unit
ive only seen them in black, sometimes greyHi helo_75,
Do’h triping errot 😳
Mind you rouge would be nice for a pump, but it should be more like pink as it was making as much noise as a stuck pig on the bench!
English was not my strongest subject at school, as I spent too much time at the back of the class reading magazines on Guitars ‘n’ stuff from the top shelf 😯

Hi,
Strewth the way the pump was ratting around like a bag of monkeys, I’d have it down as rouge unit – well pumps aren’t made like they used to be!
There was plenty of grunge etc. In the channel and chamber, plus there was a tight bend at the top of the feed pipe from the pump where it enters the water collector at the top of the machine, which I took care of.
Thanks again.

Hi Penguin45, helo_75,
Many thanks for your replies – nice one guys.
Yes helo_75, I was delving to deep, but on taking the drainage pump/float assembly apart, I did find the cut out switch in series with the elements I was looking for on the float cut out in pump chamber.
I’ve cleaned the inlet channel and pump chamber, but as well as doing this I decided to run the pump on the bench, and it appears not to be running smoothly, and running erratically. I’ve seen this sort of thing on synchronous motors in the past when the capacitor feeding the second coil is faulty.
So thanks to your help, it appears to the pump?

ParticipantHi Martin,
Many thanks for the reply and the advice.
I must admit I had a feeling it could be the pump, but was put off the scent by the fact it came to life when the pump programme was selected.
Armed with a diagnosis from the Doc, I’m off to find myself a pump 😀 .

ParticipantSo I’m not alone with flashing pre-wash lights (up-date)!
Ho-hum – following along from the previous post above!
The wife has just informed me is has failed in a main wash, so that bows my only when pre-wash is used theory.
But as in the previous post, if the pump programme is selected the pump comes to life with no problems; maybe this could be the heat problem as in earlier posts? But saying that I don’t hear any nose at all from the pump (I’m assuming you’ll hear some noise if its seized?).

Hi,
So I’m not alone with flashing pre-wash lights!
I’ve a similar problem with a Bosch WFF 2000, where the pre-wash light flashes 3 times.
The machine got to the end of the pre-wash cycle and stopped with the drum full of water – it stood for 5 mins approx and then the controller advanced to the end of the programme.
From what I’ve read, it could be the pump, but if the pump programme is selected the pump comes to life with no problems; and the machine appears to work ok with normal washes. There is no noise from the pump.
I’ve noticed it only appears to happen when you use the pre-wash programme.
Any ideas before I roll up my sleeves in anger and go at the machine with a DVM in hand – Don’t worry I’ll un-plug it first, as I’m engineer trained on Valve equipment.
I’m thinking it could be a controller fault?
Terry.
