Thanksfor the input. The PCB governing the main oven had blown a track – a BIG track. So I soldered that together and then found that 2 of the 4 relays had welded closed, instead of their normally open position. This was Christmas Eve! So, I swapped teh two pcb’s (for top and bottom ovens) so the bottom, main oven worked fine and by a bit of work with a voltmeter worked which wire did what for the top oven, and got the top oven working at least for Christmas Day, but no grill.

As the PCB is around £100, I ordered 4 new relays from http://www.farnell.co.uk and replaced those today – They’re £1.79 from Farnell.

I can only imagine when the element went it blew the track and welded the relays shut. But it’s a 10A continuous relay and 60A surge….!!

Once again, thanks for the input

Thanks. I am an electronics engineer, and the pcb’s “look” OK – normally if they go there’s a tell tail sign somewhere. No engineer in my area either! Guess we’ll just grill the Turkey!
