So, you could be chucking out a perfectly okay machine for the sake of a chicken bone!
It happens all the time, over 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of appliances thrown away have no fault at all, a further 25-30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} have very minor ones that could be repaired for under £100 easily, often just a labour charge. People just assume it’s a PCB or timer and throw the machines away, mostly incorrectly.

cheers m8, i have just found the basic faults page on here (very informative btw), and like you think and hope its something simple – i could do without a replacement cost at this time of the yr. will spend some time with my head stick into it tonight,
