Re: Is it ok to install like this?

Thanks. I guess I could book install and try. If it doesn’t fit then I can just leave the dishwasher pulled out and deal with the skirting board later.

Does it matter if the washer is touching the dishwasher. They were like that for 2.5 years. Eventually a bearing has gone in the drum I think. Could that be caused in any way by the machine being crammed in where it is?

The dishwasher is slightly scratched from the washing machine. I don’t want to damage the washing machine pushing the dishwasher in, if I then end up leaving a gap making it visible.

Re: Hotpoint Aquarius WMF760 belt come off

Thanks. I thought that would be the case. I can’t complain. It cost £250 7.5 years ago. After 4 years I replaced the drain pump at £25 and have had another 3.5 years since.

On another note can anyone tell me the difference between these apart from looks:

Re: Integrated dishwasher + placement help

Thanks for your help so far, I appreciate it.

I am getting a joiner in as all the kitchen fitters I approached were not interested. I need to buy the appliance and then arrange for him to come round. I will be spending around £500 on the machine so don’t want to get it wrong.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but I can’t help but be a bit concerned that a few post ago you said XXL didn’t exist, and now you are saying the door definitely won’t fit an XXL machine.

The door is 715mm in height. The diagrams above seem show doors in the range of 705-775 for the XXL and 655-725 for the normal sized machine will fit, unless I am interpreting them wrong.

Please can you or someone elaborate why my current door won’t fit (or will fit but not line up?) and what the issue will be?

Re: Integrated dishwasher + placement help

Just to confirm it won’t fit?

    The doors are around 715mm x 595mm.
The kickboard top height is around 145mm to 160mm from the floor.
the overall height to the underside of the worktop is around 872 to 880.

So what you are saying is the XXL one will fit but the door won’t line up properly with the adjacent units? I’m guessing the door will attach ok from the above diagrams and would have thought it could just be mounted to be level with the others no matter which machine is in place.

I will be getting the fitter in but want to make sure I don’t order a machine that can’t be fitted easily.

Re: Integrated dishwasher + placement help

The only difference I can see is the height.

Here is a Miele 60cm wide dishwasher that is XXL

    http://www.miele.co.uk/domestic/dishwas … Vi_XXL_K2O

I should have looked sooner but the site has a bit more info “XXL dishwasher – large capacity dishwasher with a height of 85 cm, giving you even more room in the upper basket for large crockery or long-stemmed wine glasses.”

I guess that kind of answers my question. I wish the Bosch site had said that. Now I’m just wondering if there are any drawbacks over a normal sized one?

Re: Integrated dishwasher + placement help

If you look at the links to the 2 above one is referred to as XXL (or it maybe XL). It is no wider than the other model but from the tech spec sheet appares to fit into taller cabinet spaces. There is some vertical overlap between the vertical space the 2 models will go into. I have found some Miele XXL machines too but not looked into them in detail as they are a bit out of my price range.

Re: Integrated dishwasher + placement help

Sorry I think “tall tub” is an American term I found when googling. The ones I’ve seen are referred to as XXL. This is new to me as I didn’t know these variations existed. I’m guessing they are taller and so will fit larger items in. This was occasionally a problem with my previous dishwasher. I don’t know this for a fact though as I can’t find any internal dimensions.

From measuring my cabinets I think both will fit. I’m just not sure if the XXL ones have any deficiencies compared to the normal sized machines, and if there is any reason there appear to be less available, given they both would fit into a standard kitchen?

Re: Integrated dishwasher + placement help

Thanks for the replies so far.

With regards to not buying one this has been a common theme amongst a few people I have discussed this with.

We moved to this new place in January and our previous home had one. I do miss it and even given the shortcomings think I would like another. I don’t know where the kitchen is from but other than a lack of dishwasher it is fine. I don’t know how easy it would be to match stuff up if I started creating wine shelves etc. I was also hoping to use the door from the removed cupboard on the dishwasher. There is space in a utility area for a freestanding one but if possible I would rather integrate into the kitchen properly.

I approached a few local firms who weren’t interested so finally got hold of a joiner. I just wanted to do some due diligence before I go ahead, as he seemed a bit unsure about a few things when he came to have a look. He wanted to supply a dishwasher but I said I would get my own. I don’t want to buy one only to find it’s a huge job to get it to fit and possibly make a mess of the kitchen in the process.

Of the 2 I have listed would the taller one fit taller objects? There seems to be no mention of the internal capacity when examining the specs. Is there any shortcoming to getting the tall tub one over the normal size? The taller ones don’t seem to be as common and I was unsure if there is a reason for this?

I’m not sure the freezer could go in the left corner as if the door doesn’t open nearly flat the trays catch on the inside of the door. It’s certainly very close.

    Thanks again for your help.
