Its fixed but for how long, original replacement Romanian PCB Module replaced with an Italian one..
Thanks Helo_75, I’m aware that my tv, video etc aren’t white goods, but the point is they all contain loads of electronic components that seem much more reliable than those supplied by Hotpoint.
I’ve a feeling I might see the repair man again…………….

Well the Hotpoint service man visited today and confirmed that the machine had developed a fault.
After checking the control panel he moved to the power module (large PCB in a white plastic box at the base of the machine). He replaced this entire unit and the plug-in eeprom part numbers C00143056 and 1604912 and its now OK.
All carried out under warranty, nothing to do with our use of the appliance, just faulty components, lets hope the replacements are more robust.

Buttons never had more than the odd splash of water on them, the programme dial is not a mechanical unit with contacts, but seemingly just a ‘switch’ so not sure why its stuck on one programme, if I cancel the programme using the cancel button it does no good and refuses to accept a new programme, I still think its faulty, none of my other white goods, tv, video, etc are so tempremental. I left it on the same programme for two hours and its still not finished…………………

Jim,
Thanks for your reply and comment re the out of balance.
I hope the buttons aren’t too susceptible to water it’s a washing machine installed in a kitchen after all, is this really a design ‘fit for purpose’?
The odd thing is that even after being unplugged all day when I plugged it in this evening it still thinks its mid programme.
I wouldn’t expect a 5 month old machine to be so tempremental/faulty hence my comment about getting shot of it, engineer coming on Tuesday….

Thanks for your replies.
We bought the machine at the end of December last year, so its 4 months old, the previous machine lasted 8 years…………
The buttons don’t latch so I don’t think they are stuck.
Since my first post I stopped the machine pulled out the three large towels and re-started it, it then drained and spun OK, perhaps the out of balance sensor is u/s?
Will call Hotpoint in the morning, but think it might not be fit for purpose can I demand my money back for Hotpoint or the retailer?
Thanks
