erm… contradiction either its thick or it isnt?!

regardless, whats the temp in the salad bin and in the front of the fridge?

Oops – sorry! I’m not sure exactly how thick the ice is, but it can’t be more than 10mm or so, as it doesn’t interfere with the back of the shelves. The ice comes pretty much half way down the back of the fridge, and it stops in an even line approx half way down. I’ll try and measure the temp in the salad bin and get a photo tonight.

The fridge is integrated, and the hinges seem OK, they close the door straight, and the door seal sits flush all the way around. As far as I can see the compressor is running all the time, I can hear it running every time I go to it. It is sited next to the oven, obviously not ideal, but there’s no other room for it in our kithcen.

Would the process I followed when installing it 18 months ago still have an effect now?

I’ve got a strong feeling that the ‘stat is the problem, and obviously want to get it repaired before the compressor packs up and I have to fork out for my third fridge in 3 years!

I don’t think it’s the insulation, as the ice is not thick, and the fridge is the coldest at the back, it freezes jars of jam, bags of salad, you name it.

The fridge doesn’t have a freezer box, so I can’t try that trick, the whole unit is at a constant -2 even when the stat is set to a hair above zero (ie almost off)

Can anyone help? I’m about to begrudgingly spend £200 on a new fridge!
