Hi All,
Thanks to Broddersbaldrick it now appears that I have a working, non-flashing, non-clicking, Whirlpool fridge freezer.
With his help, expertise and endless patience with regard to the correct capacitors and part numbers, which are obviously a crucial aspect of repairing the fault, we have a success. Not only was able to keep me right with regards to parts but was also kind enough to talk me through the process and give his time to keeping me right.
No credit at all can be given to the sales staff at my local Maplins who would be well advised to seek Broddersbaldrick’s advice in the future (maybe you could offer them your services in an advisory role).
Can’t thank you enough saved me a fortune and more grey hair.
Any time you are passing Aberdeen drop in for a cold beer from the fridge!!

Thanks, when the fault occured and the machine got ‘stuck’ we attempted to restart the cycle from the start. It would not restart and still won’t. To the best of our recollection it stopped with only the 5th light from the left being on, which is the light for the wash programme it was running up until then.

Thanks Keith. Unfortunately our model is not the one with the fault option. I think it is likely to be the board but don’t want to replace it and then find that whatever caused it to burn out in the first place is still a problem and will do the same to the repaired board. Unfortunately none of the suggested factory resets are working which makes me think the fault is electrical. We have had the machine for about 6 years and this is the first problem so can’t really complain!
