ParticipantHi Mike
Thanks – we’ve now got the clamp completely free. But there’s still something holding the back on (?) it seems.
The concrete block on top isn’t helping either (which we’ve loosened to get the clamp off).

ParticipantAbout that back part coming away…it seems to be pretty solidly fused, despite the clamp being loosened.
Is there a way of freeing it – or is it just limescaled up? I live in a hardwater area which may be the culprit.
Have taken the top off the machine to shed a little light but am still in the dark!

Good point, well made!
The type is W103 UK and th serial number is set out on two lines as follows;
S/N 111091677
46233340101I have undone the main bolt and taken off the spoked wheel revealing the drum ‘axle’ inside the bearing. Now I can’t seem to either move the drum far enough forward to get a hold of the bearing or move the bearing back. The tank is a fetching beige plastic all in one affair.
The kit that I got from Hotpoint (having told them the serial number and model) has two bearings, the smaller one seems to be the one to go on the drum axle, and a black plastic wheel with grooves around the outside.
Any advice gratefully appreciated as having returned from a camping trip on the Welsh borders I have foolishy promised to have the machine fixed today and that a trip to the launderette was not required!!!

Cool. I’ve identified and oredered the bearings so hoepfully they’ll arrive soon. Is it a simple job to replace them or am I better off getting someone in?
