The deputy head of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ), Sebastian Mikosz announced yesterday that three of Whirlpool’s subcontractors plan to invest between $10-20 million each in the outskirts of Wrocław in the near future.
According to the PAIiIZ, each of these investments will create between 50 and 100 new jobs.
The decision was taken after the government signed a contract worth EUR132 million with Whirlpool at the beginning of the month concerning the construction of a cooker plant and the development of its existing freezer and dishwashing machine production lines near Wrocław.
PAIiIZ also revealed that the country received $6.42 billion in foreign investments last year, 51% of which were greenfield. For the fourth time running, the largest foreign investor in the country was France, whose companies poured in some $13.8 million.
Overall, total foreign investments created around 10,000 new jobs. (Puls Biznesu, p. 9) A.K
