  Gorenje Washing Machine Fault Codes

These fault codes are written for washing machine repairers and not for the general public by Gorenje and UK Whitegoods and they assume a certain level of competence on the part of the user in diagnostic routines. We have added some notes to try to assist you in determining the nature of the fault you have but, you will still need to investigate each failure on its own merits. For more help and advice on fault finding on a washing machine please refer to our basic fault finding guide from this link before you begin.

If you struggle or cannot find the appropriate fault code that you need for your Gorenje machine please ask in the forums and the gusy there will do what they can to help and locate the meaning of the fault code you need

  Gorenje Washing Machine Spare Parts

We have purposely not listed any Gorenje washing machine spares in this article as these codes cover a number of different models and ranges although we can supply most Gorenje spare parts with ease.

F1

Washing machine temperature sensor fault

The washing machine has detected a problem with the water heating temperature sensor and although the program will complete the machine will not heat the water.

  • Check wiring to temperature sensor or thermistor
  • Check thermistor or temperature sensor
  • Replace thermistor if faulty
  • Check heater
  • Check wiring at control module or timer

F2

Door lock fault detected

The door lock on the washing machine has been detected as faulty or failed to engage correctly.

  • Check that the washing machine door has been closed correctly and is engaging the door lock correctly
  • Check wiring to door lock
  • Check door lock
  • Check wiring at control module or timer

F3

Washing machine water intake has failed to reach level

The water level was not detected as reaching the correct level by the pressure sensor.

  • Check water supply is on and that there is sufficient water pressure available
  • Check water intake valve wiring and electrical connections
  • Check pressure sensor wiring and electrical connections
  • Check water inlet valve
  • Check water level or pressure sensor
  • Check connections to the main control module or timer

F4

Inverter cannot control the motor

The inverter card, motor speed and voltage electronic control module cannot control the motor speed. Please note that this code would only be displayed on models that have an brushless motor fitted.

  • Check connections and wiring between the inverter card and the motor
  • Check the motor tacho is complete and in place
  • Check the main control PCB
  • Replace inverter card if no fault found on the motor

F5

Washing machine control card and inverter card cannot communicate

The main control module cannot communicate with the motor speed control board or inverter card.

Ordinarily when this error is reported the fault will lie in the wiring or with the inverter card and not the control module, which is reporting the error correctly.

  • Check wiring loom between the main control card and inverter card
  • Check connector blocks at both cards
  • Replace inverter card

F6

Washing machine water heating element detected faulty

A fault has been detected in the water heating circuit which would ordinarily mean that the wash heater is open circuit.

  • Check wiring and connections to the water heating element
  • Check heating element for continuity
  • Check thermostat or thermistor wiring and connections
  • Check thermostat or thermistor
  • Check connections on main control module

F7

Washing machine failed to drain

The washing machine has failed to drain the water and will stop with water in it.

Drain the washing machine manually before proceeding with any diagnostics.

  • Check pump filter for any obstruction or foreign objects
  • Check drain outlet hose for any blockage or obstruction
  • Check drain pump for continuity
  • Check drain pump rotor is good
  • Check wiring to pump and connections to the drain pump
  • Check connection to the main control module

F8

Washing machine motor fault detected

A fault has been detected with the washing machine’s main motor although no specific indication of the nature is offered.

  • Check all connections to the main drive motor
  • Check motor tacho unit
  • Check motor carbon brushes where used
  • Check motor armature
  • Check connections to the main control module

F9

Leak detected on washing machine models with Aquastop fitted

This fault code is only used on Gorenje washing machine models that have their Aquastop leak detection system fitted and will not show on models that do not have this feature.

  • Check for any leaks and resolve
  • Check Aquastop inlet hose
  • Check connections to Aquastop inlet hose
  • Check connections to float leak detection device if fitted
  • Check connections to main control module

More Gorenje Washing Machine Help, Advice And Guidance

Should you need more help and guidance please use the links from this article as most of them will help you to understand your Gorenje washing machine a lot better and probably very much help you in diagnosing the fault you have. Of course there are many other articles on the site that will also help you do this.

In addition you can post in our help and advice forums after registering but please do pay heed to the information below before doing so and read the guides, they are there to help you.

You must understand certain things before you begin or attempt any repairs on your own and we want to make these points very, very clear to anyone that decides to investigate one of these or any other washing machines:

  • We are not responsible for your safety, you are and by using this guide you accept that and accept that any damage that you may cause and work undertaken is entirely at your own risk.
  • We will advise the common causes of the fault codes but we cannot guarantee that any parts or work recommended will resolve the issue. It is entirely your responsibility to diagnose your particular problem and resolve it.
  • We are not responsible for you buying spares that do not resolve the problem, this is down to your own diagnosis not ours.
  • No warranty is inferred, implied or given.

Be aware that fault or error codes are not a “magic bullet”, they will not tell you what the problem is, they will only offer you an indication of where the problem lies and they are no substitute for good old fashioned diagnostic skills. You can find out more about what washing machine fault codes actually tell you in this article. So please be well aware that, even with this new found knowledge you will still have to actually be capable of investigating and diagnosing the problem and this means adhering to basic appliance safety for working on them.

Please also note that manufacturers can and do change fault codes without notice and we cannot guarantee that these error codes will apply to your particular model as all codes apply to a wide range of appliances and not normally any one specific model. To determine if these fault codes do apply to your particular Gorenje washing machine model please post a request to confirm this in the washing machine forum

  1. Have been called to a Gorenge WA82144 W/machine, all I can get from the ‘carer’ is that the ‘child lock’ light is flashing. It is not draining & full of water. Suspect pump, but would like a list of fault codes for it obviously does not have a display. Awaiting reply with anticipation.

  2. My washing machine wont start. when I switch it on on the display there is SEL or 5EL written and than it switches off. What does it mean sth with electricity?? Thank you

  3. Just found a problem with ERROR 4 on GORENJE washer. Done a self test on washer by pressing both START and EASY IRON together then turn dial knob 1 click to left. this started self test. after a short series of tests it came up with WATER ERROR. on deduction I found that the water intake valve was not opening properly to allow full water pressure to the machine. I changed the vale and hey presto NO MORE ERROR 4

  4. Gorenje WA60149 Washing machine will not complete spin section of cycle or individual spin cycle. Timer counts down to about 8 minutes then resets to full spin cycle time of 14 minutes. I have no fault codes displayed. I have however found that by selecting a reduced 1200 spin speed the cycle will complete satifactorily. Please comment on where the fault might be….Thanking you in advance for any information given.

  5. Code f02 comes up near the end of the cycle and it stalls. Read this code on another machine meant blocked motor? Is this the same?

Recently showed fault F2 door lock so I bought a replacement and fitted it in a couple of mins.
