These Hotpoint washing machines and washer dryers use what they call the “EVO2” software and it’s these fault codes that we will cover in this article. These are the most common fault codes for Hotpoint washing machine models as well as other Indesit Group produced brands.

The error code is displayed as a digital code, exactly as you will see below, you will get a blinking or flashing light on the front of the washing machine. If it is the latter then you will see a pattern to the flashes if you look closely it will be a series of rapid flashes followed by a pause and then the series of flashes will be repeated, this is the error code being displayed. If you count the number of flashes being given then you use that number to correspond to the fault code, for example, eleven flashes would be fault code F11.

Before you start any investigation of the fault or even remove the lid of the washing machine or washer dryer please read and fully understand this article in full and pay particular attention to the safety and information notices at the bottom of this page as they contain extremely important information!

Hotpoint WF & WD Ultima Series Washing Machine Fault Codes

These fault codes are written for washing machine repairers and not for the general public by Indesit and they assume a certain level of competence on the part of the user in diagnostic routines. We have added some notes to try to assist you in determining the nature of the fault you have but, you will still need to investigate each failure on its own merits. For more help and advice on fault finding on a washing machine please refer to our washing machine fault finding guide from this link before you begin.

Please check that any Indesit or Hotpoint washing machine spares recommended are suitable for use on your particular model and serial number. If you are unsure about the suitability of any spare part please ask to ensure that you get the correct spares for your washing machine or washer dryer. Please, don’t guess or assume as spares can be altered on a production run with the same model number having several different alternative components used.

The digital display models will generate the actual fault code, i.e., F01 etc which corresponds to the EVO2 software.

The On/Off neon together with a combination of the five left hand option neon’s will flash if a fault is detected. These codes are reading from the top neon down.

If you struggle or cannot find the appropriate fault code that you need for your Hotpoint washing machine please ask in the forums and the gusy there will do what they can to help and locate the meaning of the fault code you need

More Hotpoint Ultima Washing Machine Help, Advice & Guidance

Should you need more help and guidance please use the links from this article as most of them will help you to understand your Hotpoint or Indesit washing machine or washer dryer a lot better and probably very much help you in diagnosing the fault you have. Of course there are many other articles on the site that will also help you do this.

In addition you can post in our washing machine forum after registering but please do pay heed to the information below before doing so and read the guides, they are there to help you.

You must understand certain things before you begin or attempt any repairs on your own and we want to make these points very, very clear to anyone that decides to investigate one of these or any other washing machines:

  • We are not responsible for your safety, you are and by using this guide you accept that and accept that any damage that you may cause and work undertaken is entirely at your own risk.
  • We will advise the common causes of the fault codes but we cannot guarantee that any parts or work recommended will resolve the issue. It is entirely your responsibility to diagnose your particular problem and resolve it.
  • We are not responsible for you buying spares that do not resolve the problem, this is down to your own diagnosis not ours.
  • No warranty is inferred, implied or given.

Please understand that fault or error codes are not a “magic bullet”, they will not tell you what the problem is with your Hotpoint washing machine, they will only offer you an indication of where the problem lies and they are no substitute for good diagnostic skills. You can find out more about what fault codes actually tell you in this article. So please be well aware that, even with this new found knowledge you will still have to actually be capable of investigating and diagnosing the problem and this means adhering to basic appliance safety for working on them.

Please do note that manufacturers can and do change fault codes without notice and we cannot guarantee that these error codes will apply to your particular model as all codes apply to a wide range of appliances and not normally any one specific model. To determine if these fault codes do apply to your particular Hotpoint or Indesit washing machine or washer dryer model please post a request to confirm this in the forums.

  1. I have a Hotpoint Ultima WMD960 and I keep getting a message saying to ‘No water, check supply’. This has been going on for a few months and seemed better if left switched on at the mains for some reason? It has been intermittent which is really annoying but today it just won’t fill at all. All the water inlets have been checked and are fine.Any ideas would be appreciated please.

  2. I have a Hotpoint ultima displaying error code 04 which involves the pressure switch being stuck. Is this something that can be repaired by me or will it need an engineer or new part?

  4. URGENT! We’re staying in a friend’s house forward week, leaving tomorrow. Machine is saying F-03, which corresponds to NTC fault above but what does this mean? We’ve checked all the hose connections and can’t actually find a debris trap on the machine as we wondered if that was it?Please help!

  5. Hi Sim,If you use the forums you have got a far better chance of an engineer seeing your problem but, it will be an NTC or NTC relayed issue.

  7. My Hotpoint Ultima will not spin at all.Can you please advise why this could be. Yesterday wash went through full cycle but would not spin at all in the final phase. Did reduce weight of wet wash and it did spin through to end. However putting in the remaining wet wash it refused to spin at all.Can you please advise. Many thanks.

  8. I have a Hotpoint WMD940. Message flashing up f5 which means something about power switch (I think) switched machine on/off to no avail. Please let em know if there is a quick fix. Have visitors from New Zealand so need my machine working.

  9. No, it means there is something wrong with the pressure switch or water level sensor and there likely isn’t a quick fix but you can ask in the forums, the washing machine engineers won’t see your request here.

  10. I have no error code. The machine machine fills and empties ok but the drum does not turn. On the rinse and spin cycle it fills but again no turning of the drum and the display after when it gets to about 20 mins goes back to the start. If it was a broken belt or a dead motor I would get a error code – right??????

  11. No error code but my Hotpoint’s fabric softener section will not empty. It is always full of water. The softener never goes into my wash. How can I fix?
