Indesit is setting up a new manufacturing plant in Turkey to build washing machines in Manisa Organized Industrial Zone next to its refrigerator plant.
To be built at an estimted cost of €35 million, the new facility is said to create jobs for 750 people and is to become operational by October this year. The bulk of the production will be destined for export markets such as the UK and other Eu countries.
“Turkey, as it is for many other global brands, turned out to be the address of success for Indesit. Its strategic location, political stability, young and dynamic population and a high performing economy make Turkey one of the key countries among Indesit’s global network”, Indesit Company CEO, Marco Milani said at the launch ceremony.
Indesit’s has investmented €150 million in Turkey during the last 20 years according to Mr Milani.
Drawing attention to Turkey’s production hub status for the company, Milani said that Indesit would continue investing in Turkey for the foreseeable future. “Indesit exports 80 percent of its production in Turkey. We expect no slowdowns in growth” he added. The company’s refrigerator plant in Manisa is its largest in Europe, employing 1,000 people.
Indesit holds approximately 9% of the Turkish white goods market.
