Miele have largely as expected struck back at LG’s claim that Miele have infringed on some LG patents on steam washing machines.
In a statement, Miele has denied an “unauthorised use of patents registered by a third party,” arguing that it has its own patents for steam washing machines. Which is probably correct but we still haven’t got clarity on exactly what is being disputed here.
Of course (as expected) LG have come back and said that it will review “appropriate measures”, whatever that means.
What it probably means is one of two things, either LG has to now put up or shut up in effect take it to a court somewhere or just let it go. But based on what we’ve seen in this spat so far we’d be expecting this to escalate, even if it just as a PR exercise.
Oh and by the way, we still think steam washing machines are a gimmick.
