With a huge emphasis on taking care of your clothes, Miele brings the LiquidWash washing machine that has a honeycomb drum which Miele claim is more gentle on garments whilst providing ultimate washing results or, so they say.
There are many programs to choose from including Automatic+, Delicate, Express 20, Jeans, Wool, Hand Washable, Silks, Sports, Pillows, Water Save, Stuffed Animals, Sheers, Hygiene and New Clothes to name just a few. Miele has also installed an extra quiet induction motor. The “stuffed animal” one cracks us up, that’s just brilliant… what’s wrong with a delicate program and do stuffed toys really need that much attention?
Miele also have a unique stain program with 22 optional stain programs. Up to three different stain programs can be selected for a single wash cycle and the display offers further details of how to deal with stubborn stains. The user manual for this thing must be huge!
It’s no secret that we’re not Miele fans on here, not because the machines aren’t good, because they are good, they’re just very expensive to buy and run.
But, there’s a couple of problems with this machine. Not least is the price of it as, although we don’t have a UK price yet it is being sold in Europe for almost €1400! The way the Euro is at the moment that’s more or less £1400.
The next is liquid only? Really, when you are recommended to use a bleach containing detergent for lights and whites by every detergent manufacturer we’ve ever spoken to. In our opinion this is just asking for trouble, like bad smells, sometime down the road.
The big one however is the detergent reservoir that you see on top of the machine, so far as we’re aware that has to stay there. So, forget getting this washing machine under a worktop or stacking a dryer above it as, it ain’t gonna happen by the looks of it.
