We got a heads up this morning in a press release that Vestel have appointed a new managing director for the UK although we have no idea why the previous MD left the company.
Vestel, in case you don’t know the name as many people will not and especially outside the industry, is everyone’s favourite own brand label producer making products for, well almost everybody, their dog and anyone in between.
This would seem to us a move to try to promote further the company’s own brands though under the Sharp and Servis brand names. Certainly the brand seems to want to grow even larger than it already is.

Multi-brand manufacturer Vestel is set to kick-start plans for further expansion with the appointment of new UK Managing Director, Matthew Lang. In his expansive new role, Mr Lang will not only be responsible for the development of Vestel’s lucrative OEM business, but also for its bourgeoning brands including pan-European division, Sharp Home Appliances.
With twenty-five years’ worth of multi country experience within the consumer electronics and tele-communications sector, Mr Lang has built numerous sales and marketing organisations across the world, holding a number of board level positions including various CEO roles within Sony.
Throughout his career, Mr Lang has demonstrated a hands-on approach to the implementation of new initiatives and operations, delivering many campaigns and transformation programmes to increase profitability across multiple global regions. An engineering graduate of Cambridge University, he will bring a strong product management style to his leadership role.
Of his new appointment, Mr Lang comments, “I’m excited to come on board at such an important time in Vestel’s growth and evolution. Sharing the Company’s huge ambition, I relish the challenge of realising and driving its potential across new as well as existing channels.”
