Smeg oven and cooker error codes and spare parts

This set of fault codes for some ranges of Smeg built-in pyrolitic oven models in general, which do not have specific codes listed.

Sadly we do not have a note of the oven model numbers that these error codes relate to.

These error codes may not relate to ALL Smeg ipyrlitic ovens or cookers but there is a good chance that they will represent a good number of products and they will all be based on Smeg electronics and components for the most part so should be fairly standard.

Please try to support our site by buying Smeg spare parts from our store and, if you decide that you really need an engineer please support the local repairers that help make this site possible, you can find local repairers using our engineer search facility.

Before you start any investigation of the fault or even remove a panel of the range cooker please read and fully understand this article in full and pay particular attention to the safety and information notices at the bottom of this page as they contain extremely important information!

  Smeg Oven Spare Parts

We have purposely not listed any Smeg spares in this article as there is a vast range of spares used by Smeg that can be model-specific as well as range specific.

For spares, if it isn’t glaringly obvious which one is required please contact us and ask and have the model and serial numbers from the rating plate of the oven or cooker.

Please, don’t guess or assume as spares can be altered on a production run with the same model number having several different alternative components used.

  Smeg Oven Fault Codes

These fault codes are written for oven and cooker repairers and not for the general public by Smeg and they assume a certain level of competence on the part of the user in diagnostic routines. We have added some notes to try to assist you in determining the nature of the fault you have but, you will still need to investigate each failure on its own merits. For more help and advice on fault finding on an oven or cooker please refer to our basic fault finding guide from this link before you begin.

F1/E2

Missing Sensor

The electronics have detected that the temperature sensor is missing.

F3/E0

Oven Temperature Sensor Open Circuit

The oven temperature sensor is detected as being open circuit and the oven temperature may be too high.

F3/E3

Oven Temperature Sensor Short Circuit

The oven sensor is short circuit and the temperature may be too low.

F4/E0

EEPROM Error

After multiple attempts, the EEPROM cannot be read or read correctly, this indicates a module failure.

F5/E2

Door lock error

The door lock is detected as either not locking or unlocking correctly.

F8/E0

Potentiometer Error

This error is also only detected during the test procedure.

This error is detected if, when a function is selected, the internal fan motor, if required for the function) is disconnected or not working.

In this case, the program in progress stops immediately, all loads open and the alarm is displayed on the user interface in the manner prescribed for each user interface, the buzzer is activated (1Hz).

The alarm is reset by putting the oven into stand-by condition or by switching the function selector to 0

F/FF

Unknown error

Smeg do not list a reason for this error beyond it being some kind of internal error, we presume within the module.

Smeg Oven Help, Advice And Guidance

Should you need more help and guidance please use the links from this article as most of them will help you to understand your oven a lot better and probably very much help you in diagnosing the fault you have. Of course there are many other articles on the site that will also help you do this.In addition you can post in our forums after registering but please do pay heed to the information below before doing so and read the guides, they are there to help you.You must understand certain things before you begin or attempt any repairs on your own and we want to make these points clear to anyone that decides to investigate one of these or any other oven or cooker:

  • We are not responsible for your safety, you are and by using this guide you accept that and accept that any damage that you may cause and work undertaken is entirely at your own risk.
  • We will advise the common causes of the fault codes but we cannot guarantee that any parts or work recommended will resolve the issue. It is entirely your responsibility to diagnose your particular problem and resolve it.
  • We are not responsible for you buying spares that do not resolve the problem, this is down to your own diagnosis not ours.
  • No warranty is inferred, implied or given.

Please understand that these oven and cooker fault or error codes are not a “magic bullet”, they will not tell you what the problem is, they will only offer you an indication of where the problem lies and they are no substitute for good diagnostic skills. You can find out more about what fault codes actually tell you in this article. So please be well aware that, even with this new found knowledge you will still have to actually be capable of investigating and diagnosing the problem and this means adhering to basic appliance safety for working on them.

Please do note that manufacturers can and do change fault codes without notice and we cannot guarantee that these error codes will apply to your particular model as all codes apply to a wide range of appliances and not normally any one specific model. To determine if these fault codes do apply to your particular Smeg oven model please post a request to confirm this in the forums.
