Smelly washing machines continue to cause problems in the US with fresh lawsuits being launched seemingly every few months but it is a far less common problem in Europe where front loading washing machines have been in use for some decades. More in the video report.

What we see here is a lot of machines with plastic outer tanks that have nooks and crannies where bacteria can get a grip and breed in whereas in washing machines where metal and stainless steel outer tanks are used this rarely, if ever, is an issue. But, plastic tanks help to reduce noise and cost.
