COMET and Dixons Group are understood to be joining forces to help find a solution to the problem of recycling unwanted electrical appliances ahead of the forthcoming Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive.

A spokesman for Comet confirmed that an announcement, concerning the tie-up between Comet and Dixons Group, would be made this week, although no further details were available as ERT Weekly went to press.

With just over two weeks to go until legislation has to be in place – in time for implementation in August 2005 – the Government is set to unveil draft regulations early next month.
