THE US company Whirlpool has picked Poland for its new Sk4 billion (€99.85) investment. Slovakia, which was also competing for the investment, thus lost to the Polish town of Wroclaw.
According to Errico Biondi, head of Slovakia’s Whirlpool plant in Poprad, factors such as the immediate availability of the area and the support of the cabinet favoured the Polish town, the Slovak economic daily Hospod??rske noviny wrote.
Biondi said that the Poprad plant “will continue to play an important role in our strategy”. In Poprad, Whirlpool plans to increase its capacity to 2 million washing machines per year.
