About 529,000 KitchenAid coffee makers have been recalled by Whirlpool Corp. because an internal electrical component can overheat and ignite, posing a fire hazard

The company has received at least 13 reports of overheating that resulted in minor property damage but no injuries.

Catalogs, department stores and specialty and online retailers nationwide sold the 10- and 12-cup coffee makers from January 1999 to December 2004.
