ParticipantHi
Its an under the counter domestic fridge.Inside the fridge to the right middle is a control rotating switch with a light. The switch dose not power the fridge on at all 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the way to the left. But on the last 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}, there is a little clicking sound on it powers on and powers on full all the time where the temperature is around about -8C
Any ideas where to start please?

Moderatorfirst you say the temp in the fridge is -8 degrees and that cant be right or is it ?
second you dont say which unit you have
third temp need time to settle and you need to close the door and see what temp it ends up at by placing a thermometer in a glass of water to give an overall average temperature

Done all of thatAugust 30, 2025 at 10:50 am #493584electrofix
Moderatorwell that sounds like either a board fault or the sensor
on most fridges sensors are not replaceable and those that are often need you to dig a hole in the insulation and re foam it
Kenwood is one of those makes where companies pay to use the name. probably imported by currys

KeymasterWhat model is it, as if there’s an audible click, it might be one of the few using a standard thermostat?

Moderatoryes K is correct its a simple stat so replacing it should cure it
check yourself but it says it should be correct for your model

Dave
do you where the thermostat is located on the please?
I have see thermostas sold on the net for around a fiver, are they no goo as junk from China?August 30, 2025 at 6:23 pm #493591electrofix
Moderatorit has to be the correct one for you unit or it wont fit
the capillary tube has to be the correct length and the electrical connections have to be the same. if the chinese one fits the bill then its up to you
the stat is behind the knob
there will be a capillary tube that goes from there to where it needs to sense the temp

Reading the above it sounded like they where all universal
electrofix wrote:the stat is behind the knob
Thanks! I have got it out now
the sticker on it reads the following
WDF25K-328-EX 1113209 170506-0212-1AGoogle brings up several shopping resaults

Some are about a fiver but they are sites like AliExpress/ AliBaba and Temu
While other ones range from 20-30 quidSeptember 1, 2025 at 12:37 am #493593Junk Yard

I dont understand what you mean? is this inside of the thermostat or outside of it?

KeymasterThose codes, on Chinese stats like that, can be misleading. Stick with the manufacturer part number or you can run into issues. And no, they are not universal in many cases.
Is a start on how they work and what we mean about phials etc.

ModeratorAs a professional we go to the gen stat and only if the supplier says there is an alternative do we think about it
if we get the gen then we have a 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} chance it will be ok. With anything else the percentages drop
