Appearance
Grey or black stains around the collar and shoulder area of garments after being washed in a washing machine.
This issue is not caused by any fault with your washing machine and cannot be solved by a service engineer visit.
Treatment
Soak overnight in water with peroxide bleach, making sure no part of the garment is allowed to dry.
Rinse and wash as normal following the fabric care label.
Success may be limited.
Cause & Prevention
Cause
The garment may have come into contact with hair preparations (mousse, dye, spray-in colours, lacquers etc). During the wash cycle a chemical reaction takes place that results in a grey or black coloured stain.
Prevention
When applying hair preparations, remove top garment or cover shoulders with an old towel.
