ParticipantHave to go & look at this machine tomorrow. Not had much experience with these American style top loaders. Customer says it wont do the fast spin, only spins slowly!
Any tips as to what it might be gratefully received ❓

It would be worth taking the flexible drive between the motor and gearbox, 481932528035 [about £9] as the plastic arms break, although this usually results in no agitation either. Check the start capacitor first though as that’s easier to do.
These machines are quite easy to work on once you know how to get into them. I’ll pm you my mobile no. in case you want a hand while you’re on site.

Usually when the drive coupling is broken, the sympton is no spin and no agitation. A worn drive clutch will cause machine to spin slow p/n 481969018152. It is not too dificult to fit, and is available fron connect. Hope this helps.

Flexible drive looks good, pretty sure it is the clutch – but to get to it do I have to take motor off? – seems to be held by two brackets at top & bottom.
Priced clutch-up at masterparts thanks for the p/n – spanner51
Would appreciate any tips with this one looks tricky!

If you can grab the splines of the gearbox (from inside tub with agitater off) and if you can turn the shaft in either direction, then you most certainly have a damaged gearbox.
Had a few where this was the culprit, allowing it to wash fine but spin was laboured or non existent. Even had a new gearbox that was faulty 👿Greg

Yep – just taken agitator off can turn the splined shaft in both direction by hand – knackered gear box then?
Wouldnt want to be an American washer engineer!

Any idea what the p/n for the gear box is? Although I’ve feeling it will probably write the job off!
